Best ChatGPT rank tracking tools
Ranked October 2026
Ranked October 2026, data checked Oct 20, 2026: of the 20 trackers that describe a route to ChatGPT, 9 read the ChatGPT web interface, not the API, and Otterly and Peec AI ask while signed out, with no account. Trakkr is the only one that uses the providers' APIs alone, Scrunch mixes the two, and Semrush reads "the latest model of ChatGPT in search mode". 43 of the 45 tools we list name ChatGPT, yet 23 of those publish nothing about the route. Twenty-six list a price and a prompt count for the cheapest plan with ChatGPT; ranked by price per tracked prompt, the median is $1.74, and AEO Vision Lite, $9 for ChatGPT alone, costs the least.
Short answers
- Closest to a signed-out buyer: Otterly.AI Lite ($29, 15 daily prompts) and Peec AI Starter ($95, 50 daily) ask ChatGPT logged out, with a country set per prompt.
- API answers: Trakkr Growth ($100, 50 daily prompts) "sends each tracked prompt to the model providers' own APIs".
- Search mode on purpose: Semrush reads ChatGPT "in search mode", Rankability sends keywords "with live web search enabled", and Evertune sells ChatGPT Search on Starter and ChatGPT Base on Pro and above.
- Free: 4 trackers keep a free plan that includes ChatGPT: BrandAxis (5 prompts checked daily, ChatGPT only), AthenaHQ (300 credits, 1 credit per AI response), CiteCycle (2 questions a week) and Qwairy (120 credits, no card). By our count of prompt runs (700), the biggest no-card ChatGPT trial is Nightwatch's: 14 days at 50 AI prompts a day. ZipTie gives 25 daily prompts for 7 days with no auto-billing.
Ranked: ChatGPT on the cheapest paid plan
Ranking rule: we take the cheapest plan that includes ChatGPT and compute its price per tracked prompt, lowest first. A tie goes to the plan that re-asks ChatGPT more often; if that is level too, to the plan carrying more non-ChatGPT engines (a vendor that gives no count scores zero there). "ChatGPT checks" means prompts times runs in a 30-day period, counting ChatGPT alone. Prices are what you pay billed monthly, unless the row says annual: Writesonic shows only an annual rate, and Goodie is listed at its cheaper annual rate.
| # | Tool | Plan | Price | Prompts | ChatGPT runs | Per prompt | ChatGPT checks a month | How it reads ChatGPT | Why it ranks here |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | LLMrefs | All in One | $79/mo | 500 | weekly | $0.16 | about 2,143 | not published | The biggest prompt count below $100. LLMrefs splits "OpenAI ChatGPT" and "OpenAI ChatGPT Search" into separate engines. |

| 11 | Searchable | Pro | $125/mo | 100 per model | daily | $1.25 | 3,000 | not published | The plan table lists daily prompt frequency and 9,000 AI answers a month across ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity. |
| 12 | Promptmonitor | Starter | $39/mo | 25 | twice a week | $1.56 | about 214 | not published | The plan box promises runs twice weekly, while another line on the page promises daily tracking on every plan; we use the plan box. |
| 13 | Writesonic | Starter | $79/mo, billed annually | 50 | daily | $1.58 | 1,500 | not published | 50 prompts and 50 answers tracked daily. Only the annual rate could be confirmed. |
| 14 | Peec AI | Starter | $95/mo | 50 | daily | $1.90 | 1,500 | browser, logged out | Level with Promptwatch on price and runs, ahead on extra engines (2 named, against no stated count). ChatGPT is one of 3 models you pick. |
| 15 | Promptwatch | Essential | $95/mo | 50 | daily | $1.90 | 1,500 | browser | Same cost per prompt as Peec. ChatGPT runs in "automated browser sessions" from the monitor's country. |
| 16 | Otterly.AI | Lite | $29/mo | 15 | daily | $1.93 | 450 | chatgpt.com, logged out | Prompts go through chatgpt.com without a signed-in account, and each prompt can be set to a country. |
| 17 | GEO Toolbox | Starter | $99/mo | 50 | weekly | $1.98 | about 214 | not published | Weekly scans on 3 engines leave ChatGPT with few checks for $99. |
| 18 | Trakkr | Growth | $100/mo | 50 | daily | $2.00 | 1,500 | API | Heads the three plans at $2.00 by asking daily. The one ranked tool that says it sends prompts to the providers' APIs. |
| 19 | Scrunch | Core | $250/mo | 125 | every 3 days | $2.00 | 1,250 | browser and APIs | Asks a new prompt daily for 14 days, then every 72 hours, so it sits second of the three at $2.00. |
| 20 | HubSpot AEO | AEO (beta) | $50/mo ($45 annual) | 25 | not stated | $2.00 | not stated | not published | Last of the three at $2.00, since no schedule is published. HubSpot marks AEO as a beta. |
| 21 | CueScout | Starter | $49/mo | 20 | daily | $2.45 | 600 | not published | 20 prompts asked every day on ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews. |
| 22 | Citecycle | Pro | $49.90/mo ($499/yr) | 20 questions | weekly | $2.50 | about 86 | not published | One weekly discovery of 20 questions gives the fewest ChatGPT checks in the table. |
| 23 | Goodie AI | Core | $295/mo, billed annually ($354 monthly) | 110 | daily | $2.68 | 3,300 | not published | Daily data collection on 5 engines. On monthly billing it is $3.22 a prompt. |
| 24 | Wrenda | Starter | $149/mo | 50 | weekly | $2.98 | about 214 | not published | Weekly refresh on Starter (daily only on Scale) makes each ChatGPT run cost about 70 cents. |
| 25 | Geoptie | Starter | $49/mo ($41 annual) | 15 | daily | $3.27 | 450 | not published | Following one question in 3 countries spends 3 of the 15 prompts. |
| 26 | Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | Base | $99/mo | 25 | daily | $3.96 | 750 | real requests, not LLM APIs | Highest per-prompt price. Semrush says it reads "the latest model of ChatGPT in search mode". |
Fourteen of the 26 ask ChatGPT every day. Six refresh weekly, two every 3 days, one every 2 days and one twice a week; Am I On AI and HubSpot AEO publish no frequency. Across the 24 plans with a stated schedule, the median is 675 ChatGPT checks a month.
ChatGPT-only and ChatGPT-first plans
AEO Vision Lite ($9). 30 ChatGPT prompts checked every 3 days, about 300 checks a month, and no second engine. AEO Vision's $99 plan moves to 70 daily prompts on 5 AI platforms. AEO Vision gives no detail on whether Lite reads the ChatGPT app or the API.
BrandAxis Free ($0). 5 prompts on ChatGPT alone, for one user, read from the ChatGPT interface. Lite at $19 gives 20 daily prompts on 3 models you pick.
AirOps Solo. Listed as "ChatGPT Insights Only", with no published price, so it isn't ranked.
Promptwatch Explore. Promptwatch's model guide describes Explore as an entry-level plan covering ChatGPT alone. The pricing page lists Explore at $0 only in its structured data; the visible price list starts with Essential at $95, and Explore's prompt allowance is not published.
Am I On AI Pro ($100). ChatGPT-first: 150 prompts on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, and nothing else.
How each tool checks ChatGPT
The same prompt can return a different answer depending on the route: the ChatGPT web app or OpenAI's API, signed in or not, search on or off, and the country the request comes from. Here is what each vendor says about its own setup.
| Tool | Route to ChatGPT | Signed in? | Model or mode | Location |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | chatgpt.com; API only for Claude | logged out | not published | per prompt, by country |
| Peec AI | browser automation on the web interface | logged out | ChatGPT picks the model and whether to search | per prompt, by country |
| Profound | "directly from the browser" | not published | not published | not published |
| Promptwatch | automated browser sessions | not published | not published | from the monitor's country |
| SE Visible | browser and graphical interface | not published | not published | multi-country |
| Semrush | "real requests and not via any APIs of LLMs" | not published | "the latest model of ChatGPT in search mode" | 220+ countries and territories |
| ZipTie | live consumer products, "not model API stubs" | not published | not published | per project, by country |
| BrandAxis | scraped interface | not published | not published | country-level tracking |
| Peekaboo | consumer interfaces | not published | not published | location tracking listed |
| Qwairy | interface on every plan; API on Enterprise | not published | not published | 240+ countries |
| Trakkr | providers' own APIs | not applicable | not published | per market, 50+ countries |
| Rankability | ChatGPT with live web search on | not published | not published | location text appended to each query |
| Scrunch | browser automation and official APIs, not split by engine | not published | not published | not published |
| Evertune | not published | not published | ChatGPT Search on Starter; ChatGPT Base on Pro and Enterprise | not published |
| LLMrefs | not published | not published | ChatGPT and ChatGPT Search tracked separately | 20+ countries |
| Rankscale | not published for ChatGPT | not published | API list names GPT-5, GPT-5.6 Terra, GPT-6.1 Sol | not published |
| Geoptie | not published | not published | not published | one market per prompt, 123 markets |
| Waikay | not published; a separate "API mode" covers 8 models | not published | not published | 100+ countries |
| Knowatoa | "actual AI platforms daily, not simulations" | not published | not published | location targeting listed |
| Trackerly | not published; ChatGPT is tagged as a search model | not published | not published | prompt and web search localization |
Three differences matter when you read a ChatGPT score:
- Signed-out answers carry no personal history. Otterly says it "does not track logged-in user states", so personalization such as ChatGPT's memory isn't reflected. Peec calls its data "the reality for a logged-out user". Neither will match a signed-in buyer exactly.
- Search on or off changes the sources. Peec reports the share of chats that "triggered a web search", and Evertune sells ChatGPT Search and ChatGPT Base as separate models. A ChatGPT answer with no web search has nothing to cite, so citation counts depend on that switch.
- Location is handled two ways. Promptwatch runs requests from the monitor's country. Rankability adds your city or region to the prompt text instead.
Of the 43 tools that name ChatGPT, 23 publish none of these details for it, among them CueScout, HubSpot AEO, Promptmonitor, GEO Toolbox, Wrenda, Goodie, Writesonic, Citecycle, Am I On AI, AEO Vision, Gauge, LLM Pulse and Searchable. If the route matters to you, ask the vendor before you buy.
Browser or API: the case each side makes
Browser-based trackers argue that the app is what customers use. Promptwatch grants that calling an API is cheaper and simpler to run, yet holds that "the API version of a search-enabled model retrieves differently and skips interface features", so tracking it while customers use the app "measures the wrong thing". Otterly's reason is narrower: ChatGPT "does not currently provide search functionality or web links through its API", so citations appear only in the interface.
The opposing view rests on cost and stability. Searchable describes API trackers as making "large prompt sets affordable and consistent", while with interface capture "each answer is more expensive to collect", which keeps prompt counts lower. AEO Vision warns that scraping "risks service disruption". Trakkr, which runs on the APIs, explains score gaps across models: "each model has its own training data, cutoff date and retrieval behavior".
What gets stored varies too. Promptwatch keeps "the full answer text exactly as the model returned it", every citation URL, and "structured extras" such as images and tables, and can wrap a persona around a prompt before sending it, a feature named persona stacking. Rankability extracts a maximum of 25 brands from each ChatGPT response per scan. Semrush feeds ChatGPT Search through Position Tracking, running each target prompt daily in the selected location.
Neither route reproduces one signed-in person. Otterly notes that answers vary with "session, location, and account settings", and that personalization "such as ChatGPT's Memory RAG feature" is missing from its results.
Check a tracker against ChatGPT yourself
AEO Vision proposes a test anyone can run: pick 2 to 3 data points from a sample, "run the same prompts manually" in ChatGPT, and repeat for seven days. Its second piece of advice is to ask which model version produced each answer, and when. Of the vendor pages we checked, only Rankscale names versions (GPT-5, GPT-5.6 Terra, GPT-6.1 Sol), and Semrush gives just "the latest model". Expect mismatches even from an accurate tool: in a January 2026 study that Searchable cites, 600 volunteers ran 12 prompts through ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI answers 2,961 times, and the chance of the same brands appearing in the same sequence twice came to about 1 in 1,000.
ChatGPT Shopping and ads
ChatGPT answers can carry product cards, shopping carousels and ads, and a text-only tracker misses them. Promptwatch says these "are rendered by the product, not returned by the API", which is why it reads ChatGPT through the interface. Coverage sits on add-ons or upper tiers:
- Trakkr sells a Shopping add-on at $49 per brand per month (first month free) that "asks ChatGPT your buying questions" daily and records whose products appear in its product cards and which shops get the buy links.
- LLM Pulse includes ChatGPT Shopping and paid-ads tracking on Scale and Enterprise, not on Starter or Growth.
- Promptwatch lists Shopping Insights and an Ads Radar on its Business plan.
- Rankscale lists analysis of shopping-card results, providers and items, in ChatGPT.
- Evertune lists an Ads Agent to "run and optimize ChatGPT ads", priced at 10% of media.
If your category sells physical products, ask whether a plan stores those cards before comparing prompt prices.
Run frequency: how often ChatGPT is asked
A single reading misleads. Peec notes that answers "naturally vary day to day". Trakkr adds that ChatGPT leans on training data, so a fixed page can take weeks to register; in one record it describes, ChatGPT first named the brand for its category term on day 8. More runs per prompt give a steadier average, and schedules vary widely:
- Scrunch runs a new prompt daily for its first 14 days, then every 72 hours.
- Evertune samples each prompt 3 times a day per model; its own example, 50 prompts on 1 model, consumes 4,500 of 5,000 monthly credits on Starter.
- Rankability offers daily, weekly or a custom cadence.
- Wrenda refreshes weekly on Starter, Growth and Pro, and daily only on Scale.
- LLM Pulse asks $58 for weekly runs on Starter and $94 for daily ones.
- Promptmonitor shows a twice-weekly schedule on the Starter plan box and promises "daily tracking" on every plan further down the page.
By cost per check among daily plans, BrandAxis ($0.032), Rankability ($0.032), Gauge ($0.033) and SE Visible ($0.040) sit near the bottom of the range; AEO Vision Lite is $0.030 on an every-3-days cadence. Weekly plans such as Wrenda ($0.70) and Citecycle ($0.58) cost far more per ChatGPT answer, a gap the per-prompt price hides.
Free ChatGPT rank tracking: what $0 gets you
Free ChatGPT rank tracking exists, but it's small. Of the 43 tools we list that name ChatGPT, 4 keep a permanent free plan that includes it, and 5 more run a trial that covers ChatGPT where the vendor states no card is needed. Free-plan and trial terms checked on vendor pages Oct 25, 2026; plan sizes and engine lists from our dataset (checked Oct 17–19, 2026).
Permanent free plans that include ChatGPT
| Tool | What the free plan gives you | ChatGPT on it | How often | Our count |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BrandAxis | 5 prompts, one user | ChatGPT only | daily | 5 prompts a day |
| AthenaHQ | $25 credit, 300 credits | 1 of 5 engines on the free plan | credit-based | up to 300 AI responses (1 credit = 1 response) |
| CiteCycle | 1 brand, 2 questions per weekly discovery | with Gemini, Claude and Google | weekly | about 8.6 ChatGPT checks a month |
| Qwairy | 120 credits, no card | ChatGPT is read in the app (UI) on all plans | credit-based | unknown for Free (paid plans: 1 credit per prompt, engine and run) |
AthenaHQ and Qwairy are silent on whether free credits refill each month. BrandAxis's free plan is the only one limited to ChatGPT, and BrandAxis reads the ChatGPT interface, not the API.
Trials that cover ChatGPT where the vendor states no card is needed
| Tool | Trial | ChatGPT on the trial | Prompt runs during the trial (our calc) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nightwatch | 14 days, Starter: 50 AI prompts tracked daily | 1 of 6 AI platforms | 700 |
| ZipTie | 7 days, 25 daily prompts, no auto-billing | with AI Overviews and Copilot | 175 |
| Wrenda | 14 days, Starter: 50 prompts, weekly refresh | 1 of 6 models | 100 (two weekly runs) |
| HubSpot AEO | 25 prompts free, then $50 a month | with Perplexity and Gemini | unknown: trial length and run schedule not stated |
| Writesonic | "Start free" | with Gemini and AI Overviews | unknown: trial length not stated |
Prompt runs = prompts x runs inside the trial window. A run may cover every engine on the plan or a subset; no vendor states which.
Other trials that cover ChatGPT: Profound runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days (350 prompt runs) on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, but trial users get a recommended prompt set and can't edit it. LLMrefs offers a 7-day trial of its $79 plan: 500 prompts with a weekly report (500 prompt runs), with ChatGPT as 1 of 11 engines. Promptmonitor offers 7 days on any paid plan; Starter covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and no card is needed "to explore the dashboard". Not free on ChatGPT: CueScout's free account checks your first prompts once on Claude, and its Starter trial needs a card at checkout.
A trial gives you a baseline, not a trend: 7 to 14 days is too short to see ChatGPT answers shift. BrandAxis (daily) and CiteCycle (weekly) are the only free plans here that state a schedule. Once a trial ends, the ranked table near the top sorts paid plans by cost per tracked prompt.
Our AI Visibility Check is a one-off, not a tracker. For a software brand, the free preview asks one unbranded buyer question through the OpenAI API with web search. The $19 report asks 15 questions on ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Not ranked
The remaining 17 tools that name ChatGPT bill by credits (Rankscale spends 0.25 per ChatGPT run, Trackerly 2), quote euros, or publish no price, prompt count or engine list, so no per-prompt rate exists; the cost-per-prompt table covers them.
How to choose: browser, API or search mode
- To match what a signed-out customer gets in the ChatGPT app, pick a browser method. Otterly and Peec ask logged out, and Profound, Promptwatch, SE Visible, ZipTie, BrandAxis, Peekaboo and Qwairy read the interface as well.
- To get answers straight from the model, pick an API method. Trakkr is the ranked tool built on the APIs, and Scrunch combines browser automation with official APIs. Promptwatch notes that most models it calls through provider APIs answer from training data without live web search, so expect fewer citations on that route.
- To track citations, pick a tool that reads ChatGPT with search on: Semrush ("search mode"), Rankability ("live web search enabled"), Evertune's ChatGPT Search, or LLMrefs, which treats ChatGPT Search as a separate engine. Peec hands that switch to ChatGPT, which decides "whether it runs a web search".
Most trackers publish none of these details, so ask before you buy.
FAQ
Are ChatGPT trackers signed in to ChatGPT?
Otterly and Peec confirm signed-out use: Otterly "does not track logged-in user states", and Peec calls its data "the reality for a logged-out user". Trakkr calls the APIs, so no ChatGPT account is involved. For the remaining trackers, signed-in use is not published.
Does an API answer match the ChatGPT app?
Not according to the browser-based trackers. Otterly argues that API-based data can be "limited, filtered, or structured differently" from the interface, and that ChatGPT "does not currently provide search functionality or web links through its API". Trakkr, the ranked API tool, publishes no comparison of the two in its FAQ.
Can a tracker capture ChatGPT Shopping cards?
A few can, on add-ons or upper tiers: Trakkr's $49 Shopping add-on, LLM Pulse on Scale and Enterprise, Promptwatch Business and Rankscale. Promptwatch explains that product cards "are rendered by the product, not returned by the API". For everyone else, Shopping coverage is not published.
Is ChatGPT Search tracked separately from the base model?
At Evertune and LLMrefs, yes. Evertune puts ChatGPT Search on Starter and ChatGPT Base on Pro and Enterprise, and LLMrefs lists "OpenAI ChatGPT" and "OpenAI ChatGPT Search" as two engines. Semrush reads search mode alone, and Peec hands the decision to ChatGPT per prompt. Elsewhere: not published.
Which ChatGPT model version do trackers use?
Semrush names "the latest model of ChatGPT in search mode", and Rankscale's API engine list names GPT-5, GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Every remaining tool: not published.
Is there a free ChatGPT rank tracker?
4 free plans include ChatGPT. BrandAxis gives 5 prompts checked daily on ChatGPT alone, AthenaHQ's free plan includes ChatGPT with 300 credits, CiteCycle checks 2 questions a week on ChatGPT and 3 more engines, and Qwairy starts you on 120 credits with no card. For more volume, Nightwatch's 14-day trial (50 AI prompts a day) and ZipTie's 7-day trial (25 a day) need no card either.
How do I track ChatGPT rankings over time?
Run the same fixed set of prompts on a schedule, from the same country and with ChatGPT search set the same way, and log whether your brand is named, in what position, and which URLs ChatGPT cites. Judge week against week, not answer by answer, since single answers vary. Every ranked tracker automates that loop; the "Run frequency" section shows how often each one asks. Our guide on how to track AI visibility covers doing it by hand.
